Population and dissenters: There are Seven & Thirty families in the Parish of Marytavy, in which there are no Dissenters nor is there any Dissenting meeting house within the Parish.
Public or charity schools: There is no Publick or Charity School within the Parish, but the Children of the Parish are generally taught by their own Parents, or where the Parents are Incapable by two or three women, who Instruct those of their nighbourhood according to the best of their Capacity in the Principles of the Xtian Religion according to the Doctrine of the Church of England, and direct ym to attend Divine Service in the Church.
Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: There is no Allmshouse or Hospital within the Parish but an house repaired by the Overseers of the Poor for some Poor People to dwell in. There is also a parcell of land, of the yearly value of twenty Shillings, which is applied for the Repair of the Church, it is under the Direction of Trustees whose Names are John Badcock & James Cole. I have never heard of any fraud or abuse in the application of it.
Residence upon cure: I do not Reside on my Cure of Marytavy, but on my vicarage of South Brent.
Curate: I have a Curate, whose name is Jonathan Easton but He does not reside in the Parsonage House or within the Parish. I have heard & do believe he is licenced by my late Lord Bishop, having given him a little for that purpose, & do allow him Thirty pounds a year, with the Surplice Fees.
Divine service at other churches: I do not perform Divine Service at any Church but my own, except it be to assist a nighbour in his Sickness.
Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is performed in my Church on Sundays & Holydays, appointed by order of the Church or Proclamation of his Majesty: on Sundays twice every Lords day with a Sermon.
Frequency of communion: The Holy Sacrament of the Lords Supper is administred in my Church five times in the year On Xtmas day, Easter day & the Sunday following, Whitsunday, and on the Sunday before or After Michaelmas day.
Number of communicants: I have about Threescore Communicants in my Parish, of which between twenty or thirty usually receive, about twenty received last Easter day some few less ye Sunday following.
Catechising of children: The Children of my Parish are usually Catechised between Easter & Whitsunday four or five Sundays which is as long as any Parents or Masters can be prevailed on to send their Children or apprentices who are not many in my little parish.
